How High is the Water Mama

There is an old Johnny Cash song, “Five Feet High and Rising”. Well, I think the Rainy River must be five feet above normal and is still rising with more water coming from up east. There are lots of stories of pulled docks, docks under water , and boats hitting logs out by the lake. Very little boat activity on the river. Our Senior Boating program has cancelled pontoon rides. There’s no telling when we’ll be back to normal on the river.

There has been some fishing on the lake and the bite, at times, has been good. Most are fishing in the Zippel Bay and areas over west. Earlier in the week, Diane and I went with Don & Sue one evening out of Zippel Bay for a couple of hours. We didn’t really get into the fish, but kept four small walleyes and a sauger. Released one slot fish, several little ones and a nice small mouth caught in 25 ft of water. It was a nice evening to be on the water.
