A Keeper

January 30, 2008

A new granddaughter this morning, January 30th. Britta is 7 lb. 13 oz. and she’s is definitely a keeper. Jonathan says that she’ll be ready to come up and go fishing before long. Mother and daughter are doing fine. How about these pictures; taken and sent on a BlackBerry.

It’s late January and fishing has slowed on the River. Occasionally there is a report of someone that caught three or four fish, but most of the time it’s one or none. Most of the reports for the south end of the Lake are spotty; some good, but many are not very good. Got a report that fishing was very good up on the Lake around Knight & Bridges islands. I didn’t fish for about two weeks; to busy and to cold.

It’s a new year

January 4, 2008

The year 2007 is gone; it’s a new year and I hope 2008 has as many good days on water and ice as 2007 did.

The Bosch Boys are returning to Baudette from the holiday break and it will be busy around here for a couple of months. The first group of eight came yesterday and after rising early in Detroit and with an unscheduled plane delay, by the time they arrived in Baudette at 2:30 p.m. it had already been a long day. Some of the boys like their hockey, others like to fish. Glenn is in the fishing group and after he unpacked a few things he was able to get away for an hour and fish with me. Although fishing on the river begins to slow down in January, we did well for the short time we were out. We caught seven walleyes and kept five that were in the 14″ to 17″ range. Two were a little small and were released. From Detroit to Baudette and three nice walleyes in one day; not a bad way to start the trip.
