Enough for Lunch

August 31, 2007

Sister Sue and Bob are here for a visit and to have fresh walleye for lunch is high on the list. The rumor was that a few fish were being caught in the river so I tried by the airport on Tuesday evening. I caught about a dozen walleye and sauger; kept a nice limit; the rest were really small. When Sue and Bob came on Wednesday we only had a few minutes to fish before dark and caught a couple little saugers and a northern; nothing to bring home. Thursday evening, the three of us fished for about two hours and caught two 16+” walleyes, a 13″ sauger and several little sauger plus a 28″ northern that was released; northern wasn’t on the menu. The weather was great and we have enough for lunch. Bob with his 16 inch walleye.jpg

The Guide Caught Fish

August 8, 2007

We were in Bemidji for a couple of days taking care of business and a bonus was getting to fish with Terry. We fished Lake Bemidji late Sunday evening pulling crank baits for about an hour without a hit. Monday evening we fished about three hours using leeches and crawlers in 15-25 feet of water. The guide kept putting us on fish and we caught thirteen walleyes, but only two keepers in the 16-17 inch range. The rest were 9-12 inches and were released. This trip the guide caught fish (8) and if you were to talk to him he would tell you that his keeper was bigger than mine.
